Pollard
The entire crown of a tree is removed to leave only the main trunk system. This procedure is often performed on willow trees.
Staghorn Pollard
This is when all small growth is taken off the tree and it is heavily reduced to leave a sculpted ‘staghorn’ shape. This is less severe than a full pollard and returns to a natural shape sooner. This is only done to trees which respond well to heavy pruning.
